Five Rideshare Driver Accessories to Get You Started

So, you’re a new rideshare driver. Before you pick up that first Uber or Lyft rider, here are a few things you’ll want to be sure you have in the car. These rideshare driver accessories will improve your ratings, and help you make more tips, and more money.

Ozium

A clean smelling car is key. Nobody wants to get into a foul-smelling car – and even if your car smells great when you start out, you may pick up some foul odors on your trip. You may pick up a passenger from the gym, or give a ride to a chain smoker, or you might get stuck behind a tar truck or pass a dead animal on the road. None of these is your fault, but you don’t want them to wreck your passengers trip. Plus, Ozium will kill a lot of germs to help keep any illnesses that your passengers may be carrying from getting you, or your other riders sick.

Phone Chargers

If you want to make riders happy, especially on long rides, offering them a chance to charge their phone is a great way to do so.

There are a few products you can use in order to provide this service. They range from the simple to the very complex.

I use a long, multi-tipped cord that works for multiple types of phones.

If you’d like a step up, you could try this more elaborate setup.

A Good Phone Holder

I prefer one that slides into the CD slot in the dashboard. There are others that stick to the dashboard, but you don’t want them slipping while you’re driving. You also don’t want one that’s going to have your phone in the heating vents. These are fine for short trips, but especially in the winter in colder climates, you’re going to cook your phone.

A Tip Sign

You want something understated, that reminds riders that you’re there to help and that you want them to make sure they have the best ride possible. At the same time, you’d like to be able to get the idea of giving a tip into their minds. So I like this sign.

Portable Vacuum Cleaner

I got my portable vacuum cleaner on Shop Your Way, (more on that on my bonuses page) but if you want one right away, and haven’t earned enough points to get one, you can get the one I got on Amazon. A clean car is really important to keep your rating high, and you don’t want to be wasting time (and quarters)

Portable Battery Charger

This small package will keep you from getting stranded with a dead battery. This little “brick” will jump start your car.

Uber / Lyft Sign

In most states, you need some sort of “trade dress.” It’s also vital to helping your passengers find you. Both Uber and Lyft will send you a sticker to put in your car’s window, and I’ve put mine in the rear window of my car. I use this rearview mirror hanging sign in the front. It doesn’t obstruct my view at all, and it comes down easily when I’m not working.
